How to Start My Internet Marketing Business?

.: Urmm... This question is tough~~ ;-P

Before we continue, Internet marketing and online business, do we really understands what both term means?

Internet marketing in other words means that efforts made to markets one products or services over the internet, while online business (electronic commerce) means doing business activities by using or utilizing information and communication technologies, ICT.

My way of saying these terms is, internet marketing is practically our way to attract traffic to our site so they use and buy our products or services, while online business is how we carry out our business activities using internet-related technology.

We create our online business, and we attract our prospects using internet marketing. Simple and sweet~ ;-)

From my observation and information gathered from a lot of downloading and reading pdfs, we can say that, to do online business, by using our blog as our platform, can be simplified into 5 grueling yet entertaining tasks~ ;-)

1. Find our Niche
2. Do SEO a little bit + Blog consistently
3. Become an Affiliate
4. Embed our Autoresponder
5. Carry out Internet Marketing

While this not a definite way to do online business, (because it can be done in sooo many ways) but this 5 tasks is a sure method used by others to make profits from internet. I myself personally do not have my own stable online business, but I do have my niche sites ready, hehe ;-)

I am sure that from my 5 tasks above you can probably start searching your online quest right now because there is a lot of free information out there. Be prepared with your emails and instead of making and creating and writing plans, just take actions and you will get your results. Do not afraid of doing mistakes but be afraid of doing the same mistakes over and over again, okay?

Before I end my post, I just want to let you know that this blog in due time will guide you step by step in doing internet marketing for our online business - using free tools and widgets, getting more information from my recommended sources plus how to track and manage it. (This blog covers everything related to internet marketing) :-)

My previous post shares about how we start with the power of email as our first tools in doing internet marketing. future news and info about email will be posted later, we should admit that  email is one of the important key to enter the world of online business. While I do suggest you to use both Yahoo! mail and Gmail services, you may wonder how many emails should you create?

3 Main purposes

3 email accounts would be good - one for downloading freebies, one for business use and the last one for my personal use. My recommendation? Y! mail for the first purpose, Gmail for online business, and for personal use you can use any email services to your liking.

Y! mail is great for collecting free downloads by other internet marketer out there (including collecting all limited or trial offers or junk mails) because of it's unlimited storage, and Gmail is great for internet marketing because their offers many great services for us. Google Blogger, keyword searching, spotting trends, analytics, etc and believe me, all of them is super beneficial for us to use. Provided, we understands what we are doing. ;-)

To summarize my earlier post about emails, here it is in numbered points (in reading order)~~

1. Most of us use our email account purely for writing and reading emails. But as an internet marketer, we have another 7 uses for our email account.
2. Before creating one, consider this is your online business jumpstart - use best and suitable username or login ID for your email account.
3. With good username, now comes to how we can protect our email. One way to do it - use strong password.
4. Are you sure that you are using strong password?

7 other email uses for an internet marketer >>

.: Is there really any other way to use my email account??

Email account, as a normal end user, were usually used for 2 basic purposes - writing and reading emails. We use it to reply our friend's email, read our weekly subscribed newsletter or maybe print out our flight itinerary. But as an internet marketer, email can serve us more purposes instead of writing and reading it.

Actually, I use more than one email myself. Each of my email is used for different purposes, mainly to simplify my everyday tasks and organize my stuff. Y! mail and Gmail is currently my preferred web-based email. And I would love to recommend you to do the same thing, as this really helps you a lot. So, what is the other uses of email that can benefits internet marketer like us? :-)

• To differentiate our personal and business use
  
• Although some might think that having too much email accounts can make you dizzy, by having different email for personal use and business use, it actually a life saver. We wouldn't want to accidentally emailed our boss or our colleagues about our horrible party last night, or sends our work report to our great grandfather, wouldn't we? Personal emails really won't mix well with our work.

• As our freebies reservoir   ;-)
  
• This is one of my preferred way how to use my multiple email accounts. Call it temptation or what, but I will definitely agree with you that free stuff is really good. Ebooks, audio transcripts, free videos, etc and all of this is worth to download and used in my online business. To avoid freebies from cluttering my other emails, I make one special account exclusively for this purpose.

• Back up our documents and project draft (as our secondary storage)

• As now both Y! mail and Gmail has their build-in instant messenging along with their email service, this allows us to work and exchange information right on the spot (without the need to open the software). This enables us to do multi-tasking and greatly saves our time.

• Collect junk mails all in one place
• Sign up for freebies from other internet sites means that you will definitely to receive more junk mails, contains more offer and and more freebies. This emails cannot be labelled as spam mail because we did choose to receive their emails in the first place. So, to make things organized, use one email account to purposely receives all of this junk mails. ;-)

• For blog or site commentating
• I myself admits that I love to read others blog, but I'm not into giving comments so much. Sometimes, where I find that I do have the answers for their problems or questions, I need to use my email before being able to give comments. Here, is our chance to expose our blogs or site. By giving out our email, usually, we can include the link back to our site (some sites or blogs prohibit this). So, our email is used when we want to give comments and also to promotes our internet site.
  

• Online reminder or planner
• Becoming an internet marketer is not an easy task. We need to prepare and makes plans ahead of time to get the first prospect and give the first exposure from others. While most of us use our personal computer or laptop at home (I mean using our own preferred software to jot down our future activities or ideas), we can use the online reminder/calendar from our email to records our plans. Instead of being 'stuck' with your home computer, now we can carry on our online business almost anywhere~~ ;-)

Hope this will help us to use our email and internet at it's full potential. Email benefits us in many ways, plus right now it is likely functions as the door to open more great and awesome opportunities and services in our internet marketing world~~

What I love the most about Yahoo! mail is, it's classic interface and the ability to open my email in multiple tabs (unlike Gmail conversational view). Why classic? I love speed so much~~ ;-)

3 sebab kenapa kata laluan tidak dipilih sembarangan >>

Kata laluan boleh diibaratkan sebagai 'kunci' untuk membuka bilik internet. Ada kata laluan yg panjang, ada kata laluan yang kecil, ada yang kuat dan ada juga yang lemah. Dan yang sebaik-baik kata laluan ialah kata laluan yang kuat kerana lebih selamat dan terjamin.

Jadi, kenapa pemilihan kata laluan begitu penting?

Sebagai seorang internet marketer, kata laluan adalah salah satu faktor kritikal untuk akaun internet kita. Kita menguruskan dan membuka laman web kita dengan menggunakan kata laluan. Jika tiada kata laluan, sesiapa pun boleh mengakses akaun kita. Tetapi, apabila kita mempunyai kata laluan, ianya mesti dijaga dan dibuat dengan kuat untuk mengurangkan risiko kerugian di kemudian hari.

Menjaga keselamatan maklumat peribadi

Kata laluan tidak dipilih sembarangan kerana kita tidak mahu kita menjadi mangsa internet. Internet boleh menjadi kawan atau menjadi lawan, bergantung bagaimana ia digunakan. Ini kerana maklumat peribadi seperti nama penuh, nombor kad pengenalan, tarikh lahir, alamat tempat tinggal, nombor telefon dan lain-lainnya boleh dipergunakan oleh pihak yang tidak bertanggungjawab. Mereka boleh menyamar sebagai diri kita atau menjual maklumat kita kepada pihak lain. Dengan mengetahui kata laluan sahaja membolehkan maklumat peribadi anda diketahui. Anda pastinya tidak mahu menjadi mangsa 'klon' anda sendiri bukan?

Menjaga simpanan wang di bank

Dari segi keselamatan, pihak bank sememangnya telah mempunyai kawalan keselamatan yang tinggi untuk menjaga akaun bank kita. Tetapi, untuk perbankan internet, kita perlukan perantara untuk mengakses akaun bank kita tadi. Perantara tersebut biasanya menggunakan emel dan/atau nombor telefon mudah alih. Yang menjadi peluang untuk mereka ialah akaun emel kita. Emel lebih mudah dipecahmasuk berbanding akaun bank. Jadi, dengan memilih kata laluan yang kuat sekurang-kurangnya emel kita lebih selamat, sekaligus menyelamatkan simpanan wang juga.

Mengelak hasil kerja kita dari dicuri

Pengajaran paling berharga buat seorang internet marketer semestinya apabila hasil kerja yang dirancang dan disiapkan sebelum ini telah dicuri dan dijual kepada orang ramai. Ebook, rakaman temuramah, transkrip rakaman, video-video dan sebagainya telah bocor (leak) dan dimuaturun oleh pesaing dan prospek anda. Belum lagi dicampur dengan semua list prospek kita yang telah bocor, dan berapa keuntungan yang telah mereka dapat. Bagaimana ini boleh terjadi? Kerana kata laluan kita tidak kuat atau dipilih secara sambil lewa sahaja.

Bagaimana Menguatkan Kata Laluan Emel Anda (Dan Akaun lain) >>

Kata laluan (password) biasanya digunakan untuk mengakses akaun-akaun online anda. Contohnya membaca emel, chatting dengan messenger, membuka laman web sosial dan sebagainya. Bagi anda, kata laluan anda sudah cukup kuat (selagi tiada sesiapa pun yang tahu), akan tetapi, adakah anda pasti ianya betul-betul kuat (dan selamat)?

Kata laluan = Password = Kata rahsia~~

Mengambil definisi dari Wikipedia, "Kata laluan atau lebih dikenali dalam bahasa Inggeris password merupakan sejenis bentuk data pengesahan rahsia yang digunakan untuk mengawal capaian kepada suatu sumber." Setiap individu yang ingin memasuki sistem akan ditanya dan hanya yang mengetahui kata laluan yang betul sahaja akan dibenarkan masuk. Dan untuk dunia online, kata laluan kita semestinya dijaga dengan rapi dari pengetahuan individu lain, bagi mengelakkan dari disalahgunakan. Untuk menjaganya, kata laluan tadi mestilah kuat dan sukar dipecahmasuk (crack).

Jadi, bagaimana untuk membuat kata laluan yang kuat?

Agak sukar juga untuk menentukan tahap kekuatan sesuatu kata laluan itu. Ia boleh menjadi sangat-sangat kuat apabila...

• kata laluan anda amat tersangatlah panjang sehingga terpaksa mendaftar untuk akaun khas, kerana kata laluan anda mempunyai 999 huruf atau lebih yang berubah-ubah setiap masa
• entah bagaimana, laman web anda itu memyediakan teknologi super atau tahap enkripsi terlampau yang betul-betul boleh menjamin kata laluan anda selamat sepanjang masa
• dunia ini aman damai, tiada hacker yang ingin menggunakan maklumat peribadi anda atau memecah masuk akaun anda
• dan pelbagai alasan yang tak masuk dek akal...

Maaf ya untuk gurauan~~ dibawah ini ialah perkara-perkara yang anda perlu ada untuk mempunyai kata laluan yang kuat. Anda juga boleh mengaplikasikannya untuk mengubah kata laluan yang sedia ada.

• gunakan lebih huruf: 8, 9, atau lebih huruf adalah sangat-sangat digalakkan
• mudah diingat, susah diteka, dan tidak berkaitan terus (secara langsung) dengan anda
• kombinasi huruf besar dan huruf kecil
• menggunakan huruf beserta nombor, serta simbol-simbol dan tanda bacaan (koma, noktah dsbg) (rujuk ASCII)
• (serta) menggunakan teknik 'seakan-akan' (untuk IMers yang dwibahasa), dan juga teknik-teknik lain.
  

Teknik 'seakan-akan'

Sebelum kita berkongsikan teknik 'seakan-akan' di sini, apa kata kita lihat dahulu teknik-teknik lain yang turut membantu dalam membuat kata laluan yang kuat. Di bawah ada dua pautan yang berguna dan turut digunakan dalam teknik 'seakan-akan'.

1. Pihak Microsoft menggariskan 6 langkah untuk membuat kata laluan yang kuat, bermula dengan kita membina satu ayat ringkas dan menarik, di sini.
2. Pelajari bagaimana kaedah Scalet yang menggunakan teknik Microsoft, tetapi ditambah dengan sedikit pengubahsuaian, dimana setiap satu kata laluan akan menjadi berbeza untuk setiap akaun.

Teknik seakan-akan sebenarnya terdiri daripada ayat ringkas yang dwibahasa pada maksud atau ejaan. Teknik ini menggunakan teknik pihak Microsoft. Kita ambil contoh ayat "suka makan durian sangat-sangat tau"~~

"suka makan durian sangat-sangat tau" akan menjadi "smdurianst"

1. Kita mula dengan "5mdurianst"
2. Kemudian, "5Mdurianst"
3. "5Mdueendst"
4. "5MdueanDst"
5. "5Mdu3anDst"
6. Akhir sekali, "5Mdu3@nD>" (kata laluan dengan sepuluh huruf)

Penerangan:

• Kita gantikan 's' menjadi '5' (nombor digunakan)
  
• Huruf 'm' pula ditulis menjadi huruf besar 'M' (penggunaan huruf besar)
  
• Langkah yang ketiga ialah kita menggunakan bahasa lain yang dieja cara kita sendiri. Bahagian inilah yang dimaksudkan teknik 'seakan-akan' tadi. Durian, raja buah-buahan, telah ditukar ejaannya menjadi 'due-end'. Sebutan 'due-end' ini seakan-akan sebutan 'durian'. (Kalau tak sama sebutan, cuba sebut sampai sama, hahaha) ;-P
• Tambahkan lagi huruf besar dalam kata laluan kita, 'd' menjadi 'D'
  
• Huruf 'e' pula ditulis menjadi '3'
  
• Akhir sekali, gunakan simbol. Huruf 'a' menjadi '@' dan 'st' menjadi '>'

Penjelasan:

• Secara ringkasnya, 'next' telah menjadi 'nx', 'week' pula sebagai 'wk'
• Cara sebutan 'major' seakan-akan seperti 'meja'. Jadi di sinilah digunakan teknik seakan-akan tadi.
  
• Mengeja dengan cara sendiri - 'wk' (week) dieja sebagai 'w6'
  
• Kemudian gunakan nombor untuk menggantikan huruf-huruf
  
• Akhir sekali masukkan simbol-simbol dalam kata laluan tadi, huruf 'L' bertukar menjadi '[' dan 'nx' (next) pula menjadi 'n*'.
  

Teknik seakan-akan m2mdoh tadi sememangnya akan menjadikan kata laluan anda unik, tidak tersenarai di dalam kamus, senang diingat dan agak kuat. (Selepas diperiksa di laman Yahoo! mail dan Gmail, keputusannya ialah kata laluan yang kuat). ;-) Harapan m2mdoh agar blog post ini dapat membantu anda mencipta atau menguatkan kata laluan anda tadi. Kenapa Pemilihan Nama Pengguna (Username) Amat Penting?

.: Ada TIGA sebab Mengapa Nama Pengguna adalah penting dan perlu dipilih dengan tepat.

Nama Pengguna berfungsi membezakan akaun milik kita dengan yang lain. Nama Pengguna digunakan juga agar memudahkan kta mengingat akaun-akaun kita. Oleh sebab itu, Nama Pengguna dijadikan kemestian untuk mendaftar dengan mana-mana akaun di internet.

Nama Pengguna bermaksud Username dalam bahasa Inggeris. Variasinya termasuklah User ID, Login name, dan juga Login ID. Untuk Bahasa Malaysia lazimnya ditulis ringkas sebagai 'Nama'.


Akan tetapi, umum kurang mengetahui kenapa pemilihan Nama Pengguna amat penting - lebih-lebih lagi untuk dunia IM. Mari kita lihat tiga tujuan utama yang boleh kita gunakan dari Nama Pengguna kita yang unik. ;-) (Sini m2mdoh gunakan Nama Pengguna dalam emel sebagai contoh).

• SEO - search engine optimization (optimisasi enjin carian)
  

SEO secara ringkasnya ialah proses menbawa traffik ke laman web/blog anda dari hasil carian yang dilakukan melalui enjin carian. Antara proses SEO itu melibatkan penggunaan kata kunci (keyword). Biasanya kita akan menggunakan emel sebagai medium perhubungan dengan prospek dan rakan niaga. Jadi, dengan memasukkan laman web kita atau menggunakan kata kunci dalam emel, ini secara tidak langsung membantu proses SEO tadi.

• Penjenamaan
  

Penggunaan kata kunci atau nama laman web kita dalam nama pengguna membolehkan kita memberi jenama untuk menunjukkan identiti kita. Dengan emel perkara yang sama juga boleh dilakukan. Apabila prospek menulis alamat emel anda, maka proses penjenamaan sudah bermula dari situ. Mereka mengenali anda dari alamat emel anda. Kita ambil contohnya dari 'Gmail'. Gmail sebenarnya 'Google Mail', tapi sebagai ringkasan, dipendekkan menjadi Gmail. Huruf 'G' pada Gmail sudah boleh membuatkan anda mengetahui ianya dari Google - Google Mail. Begitulah kuasa penjenamaan. ;-)

• Mudah Diingat
  

Secara fitrahnya kita lebih mudah tertarik dengan sesuatu yang unik/berbeza atau luarbiasa/aneh. Jadi Nama Pengguna yang unik tentunya lebih mudah diingat. Sekiranya nama laman web anda terlalu panjang, ringkaskan atau mungkin ambil huruf pertama dari nama laman web anda tadi. Contohnya, blog ini dengan nama IM-AIOExplained.blogspot.com, diringkaskan hingga alamat emel menjadi imaioe. Boleh juga untuk terus mengunakan imaioexplained untuk alamat emel, semasa ditaip memang prospek akan teringatkan URL blog ini, tetapi ianya terlalu panjang untuk ditaip. Agak menyusahkan, maka dijadikan lebih ringkas, lebih aneh, dan lebih cepat ditulis. Hee ;-D

Sebenarnya, pemilihan Nama Pengguna tidaklah terikat untuk membuat akaun emel sahaja, sebenarnya anda boleh gunakan Nama Pengguna tersebut untuk mendaftar dengan mana-mana laman web yang anda gemari. Dengan pemilihan yang tepat, anda kini dalam usaha memperkenalkan diri dan laman web anda kepada dunia. Teruskan usaha dan mari kita belajar bersama-sama~~ ;-)
